Such a funny scene!

I just realized that if the race was today I would be 92 miles for the month of August. That is so close to 100! That is crazy to think about. And not even one hint of any type of injury. Go Newton and barefoot running style!!!
*79 miles is a PR anyway. :)
It almost felt slightly cool in the middle of the night here in the 757. Gave me a smidgen of hope that the weather won’t play out as hot as has been predicted.
I hit up the expo today and got my stuff. I got to try some of those Nuun tablets…not impressed with the taste but it is what it is I suppose.
My buddy is running with me which I’m really excited about. He could finish in about an hour and a half but he’s says he gonna run with me! What a friend, huh?!
This race will be glacial slow and hell hot!
I wish I had time for all the meet ups but it just ain’t happening. Maybe I’ll catch ya at the Shamrock in March!
A few weeks ago I had a running epiphany. I had been running exclusively on the road but due to our summer weather here in southeastern Virginia I decided to take training back indoors to the dreaded treadmill. My runs hadn’t been going that well outside anyway so I figured what could I lose. I quickly realized that this would be a great way to work on my form. Soon enough I began to realize little nuances in my running. This is a little tricky to explain but I’ll do my best. When I run, there are parts of my legs that I hold tightly. Think about it like this…when you sleep and you clench or grind your teeth and your jaw gets tired, that’s what I’m doing with my legs. I’m squeezing these areas in my legs when I run and I can feel myself doing it now. Last year I injured my Popliteal Tendon in my right leg. For whatever reason, I’m still somewhat favoring that leg because of that issue and I’m running tight. I’m 99.9% sure my running guru buddy would say that I do this because my glutes are weak and he’d be right. When I correct this issue and run with loose legs I can feel my hamstrings, quadriceps, and glutes kick in like they’re supposed to when running correctly, and they get tired quickly because I haven’t been relying on them and training them like I should. I just need to relax my legs, ankles, and knees and let my power muscles do the work.
With this change I feel like my running form is really efficient and I really look forward to strengthening those running muscles and seeing some PR’s!
Hope this helps somebody else out there!
68 miles logged this month and man am I tired. I took a walk today with the big baby boy, now over 30 lbs, in the jogging stroller and I barely had any energy in my legs. Overall, I am just wiped out. I can definitely say I gave July 100%. I’m gonna give my legs a break for the next few days and start August off really well. I’ve got about a month left until the VaBeach RocknRoll Half.

I’m getting nervous before my longer runs (6, 8 miles, etc). It’s been some time since I’ve gone that far. Will I be able to do it? Will I get injured? Did I fuel properly?
I realize these distances are not really that far but when you haven’t done it in some time I guess you lose confidence. Gonna try and get that back today!
